About the role

The Sales Applications Engineer (SAE) at Nortek Air Solutions is responsible for providing engineering support to field sales representatives (reps) to generate selections and secure orders. The SAE works closely with the rep force to offer comprehensive equipment solutions, assist in specification reviews, and provide alternative recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide air handling unit design, performance, and pricing assistance for reps.
  • Combine factory best practices and custom air unit designs for comprehensive equipment solutions.
  • Aid in specification review and provide alternative recommendations if necessary.
  • Generate factory pricing based on specifications, selections, and rep input.
  • Produce documentation (submittals) for approval by mechanical engineers and fabricate equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Educated and experienced in blueprint and technical document review with the ability to understand and read technical details from prints, drawings, and other documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, direct, and provide technical guidance to colleagues, representatives, and customers.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technically, both internally with various departments and externally with customers.
  • Solid organization skills and strong multi-tasking abilities in a timeline-driven environment.
  • Independent analysis and judgment skills in using prior experience and knowledge of company policies and procedures to resolve non-standard problems.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Dynamics (DAX), or similar MRP/ERP system, AutoCAD / 3D Application.

Preferred

  • Air Handling Unit (AHU) design experience.
  • 2 years or more HVAC experience.
  • Experience in fan performance and heat transfer technology.
  • Experience working with Sales Reps and Consulting Engineers.
