About the role

A motivated and experienced Technical Account Manager is needed to join our Pharmaceutical Ingredients team. Key responsibilities include improving Univar's position within accounts, prospecting for new business, focusing on customer retention, and providing technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Improve Univar’s position within each account using consultative and in-depth selling at all levels within the account.
  • Penetrate accounts for further business.
  • Nurture an extensive network of contacts.
  • Set pricing and service levels, and maintain and coordinate customer quotations.
  • Coordinate with Local Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure proper inventory levels.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, both personal and of your colleagues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of sales experience in the Pharmaceutical Ingredients (raw chemicals) industry.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or chemical industry sales is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Technical Science or Chemistry (preferred but not required).
  • Proven competitive drive.
  • Strong business savvy, including an understanding of the business relationship between manufacturers, distributors, and end-users of chemicals.
  • Well-honed listening skills and a problem-solving approach to uncover needs and motivations to overcome objections to closing a sale.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is USD $98,480- $140,770 USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s proven experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this role is eligible for incentive pay. Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.

Where you'll work

This is a home-based opportunity. The covered territory includes Long Island, Upstate New York, and Connecticut. Preference is given to candidates located in Long Island, New York City, or New Haven, CT.
