Safety Specialist - Sabey Data Centers (Umatilla)
About the role
The Safety Specialist supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements. They perform routine inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards. They conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls. They assist with the investigation of workplace incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
Principal accountabilities
- Aid in the development, review, and implementation of safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls.
- Support the coordination and facilitation of safety training programs, such as First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and proper handling of chemicals.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, accident investigations, and other compliance documentation, including the OSHA 300 log.
- Assist with the investigation of workplace incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Provide guidance to employees and management on best practices for maintaining a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with the Safety Director and HR in managing the Worker’s Compensation Program, including accident prevention and return-to-work programs.
- Participate in the organization’s Safety Committee and contribute to the ongoing improvement of safety culture.
- Stay informed of updates to local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure company policies are aligned with these changes.
- Assist with the preparation of safety reports and provide updates to the Safety Director on the status of safety initiatives.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management practices and interpretation of OHSA and Workers Compensation regulations.
- 2+ years’ experience in safety management, safety coordination, safety engineering, and/or risk management in a relevant industry.
- CSP, CIH, ARM and CHST certifications preferred.
