MasTec Industrial, alongside its sister companies Casey Industrial and Phoenix Industrial, has been in operation since 1947. We serve a diverse clientele, including utilities, independent power producers, developers, and municipal utilities. Specializing in projects using natural gas, oil, biomass, and other combustible fuels, our team boasts over 30 years of expertise in the power industry. We provide EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services and assist in project development. Our experience spans various systems for utility and industrial facilities, including simple and combined cycle plants, reciprocating engines, and waste-to-energy projects.

About the role

You can be based in any city or state in the U.S. This is a traveling, project-based position, up to 100% of the time. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You’ll spend 8-18 months on average per project. We offer designated per diem in addition to an excellent base salary to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for mobilization support (may include mileage reimbursement).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety training, job safety analysis, workplace audits, and incident responses as needed.
  • Coordinate and present safety training to support MIC and client requirements, including planning, documentation, and presentation (e.g., New Hire Orientation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory).
  • Understand and apply OSHA regulations.
  • Recognize hazardous situations and mitigate them satisfactorily.
  • Identify and document onsite safety risks or discrepancies during daily site walks. Track safety issues daily and recommend strategies to eliminate hazards.
  • Provide safety leadership to create enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, resulting in excellent safety performance.
  • Input and review incident reports.
  • Write, organize, and implement the jobsite safety plans.
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures safely.
  • Work directly with the Site Manager and management team to develop, implement, and maintain an effective site-specific safety plan.
  • Communicate between MIC and client management regarding safety matters.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on-site.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of construction safety experience and ability to work in outdoor environments around related equipment.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Working toward obtaining CHST or other BCSP certification (GSP is acceptable).
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hazard recognition, record-keeping, and injury management skills.

Physical Demands

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully.
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several-hour intervals.
  • Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions with constant changes in weather and site conditions.
  • Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Work at heights and abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; wear and utilize all required safety equipment.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards and see details in objects or drawings; recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Keep good balance and work at heights.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Hear well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

Schedule

This is a full-time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to project requirements.

Pay

Competitive pay of $70,000 - $90,000 per year with ongoing performance reviews, project completion bonus opportunities, and merit increases.
