Safety Program Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a regular presence on the production floor to observe work practices, coach employees, and reinforce safety expectations
- Conduct routine inspections, safety walks, and area assessments
- Support the development and execution of annual safety training plans, including safety training and toolbox talks
Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with operators and supervisors at the point of work
- Identify hazards and implement engineering, administrative, and PPE controls
- Support industrial hygiene efforts including noise, air quality, and chemical exposure assessments
- Assist with emergency preparedness and contingency planning
Compliance, Audits & Reporting
- Support OSHA and other local, state, and federal safety reporting requirements
- Participate in or lead internal audits, inspections, and corrective action follow-up
- Assist with ergonomics evaluations, PPE assessments, and environmental/sustainability reporting (including ISO 14001 support)
Incident Investigation & Corrective Action
- Respond promptly to incidents and near-misses
- Lead or support investigations using root cause analysis methodologies
- Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions
- Support injured employees through the workers’ compensation process
Collaboration & Partnership
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and HR to influence safe work practices
- Participate in reviews of new equipment and process changes to identify safety impacts
- Deliver quarterly safety updates to leadership and support safety committee goals across North American sites
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum three (3) years of experience (ideally between three and six years) in workplace safety. Preference is in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, incident investigation methods, and workers’ compensation
- Hands-on experience conducting JHAs, safety inspections, and risk assessments
- Experience developing and supporting safety committees
- Exposure to industrial hygiene assessments and ergonomic evaluations
- Experience supporting ISO 14001 or similar management systems
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels
- Ability to spend extended time on the production floor and meet physical demands of a manufacturing environment
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% within the Midwest
