About the Role

We’re looking for an established Safety Specialist to create and facilitate an accident-free workplace by implementing safety policies and programs, providing training, maintaining safety documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws within assigned facilities. This role plays a key part in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing instruction of OSHA-required safety disciplines.
  • Coordinate all annual and recurring safety training requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee training and safety records and reports.
  • Review and update documents to identify work-related hazards, reflect changing regulations, and incorporate best practices.
  • Conduct safety audits across multiple facilities to identify and correct unsafe conditions and acts.
  • Ensure alignment of safety programs with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations to determine root causes and collaborate with departmental representatives to address safety concerns and track corrective actions.
  • Write detailed summaries and recommendations regarding corrective actions necessary to prevent accidents.
  • Participate in division projects addressing safety issues.
  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to demonstrate compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Safety training and certificates preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles as well as industry practices and standards.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

Work Environment

This role may work in classrooms, offices, and high-traffic production floors.
