Safety Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain company safety programs that meet OSHA, MSHA, and industry standards.
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Cook up and deliver employee safety training and onboarding for new hires.
• Monitor field operations and proactively identify potential hazards.
• Aid project teams with incident investigations and corrective action plans.
• Maintain employee training records and compliance documentation.
• Evaluate PPE needs and manage safety equipment inventory.
• Partner with project leadership to promote safe work practices and continuous improvement.
• Conduct health sampling and recommend appropriate workplace controls when necessary.
• Aid in the development of company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Support the Safety Manager and provide leadership in their absence.

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction safety role, preferably within heavy civil, grading, earthwork, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
• Experience conducting safety training and field inspections.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
• Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology used for reporting and recordkeeping.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field and office teams.
