Safety Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Works closely with the safety department to understand and comply with OSHA regulations, Company Safety Policies and Owner Safety requirements.
• Investigates safety related incidents in conjunction with site leaders.
• Affords assistance to leaders with developing JHA’s, toolbox talks, and Safety documentation.
• Completes Site Inspections and documents at least once daily.
• Conducts regular walk-through inspections of the site and serves as a safety liaison between the field and management (upwards of 70% of the job involves field audits and interactions with crews).
• Assists and identifies, documents, and recommends resolutions for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions; follows up to ensure corrections have been implemented.
• Participates in pre-task planning and jobsite safety meetings.
• Aids in compiling data, photographs, etc.; prepares appropriate forms and reports according to program procedures and federal, state, and local accident regulations.
• Issues various permits (e.g., confined spaces, cranes) as required.
• Conducts awareness-level training and new hire orientations, per job-specific requirements.
• Affords assistance in researching safety compliance and regulations in the industry.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• OSHA 30 class completed.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willingness to complete 11 identified safety classes and keep current.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to jobsites.
• 1 – 3 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
