About the Role
Keolis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Transit Safety Manager. This role requires a strong background in transportation safety, including experience as a TSI bus operator trainer, and a proven track record in managing safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Training
- Select, hire, and train qualified candidates for employment
- Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material
- Conduct oral presentations, relay technical information in understandable terms
- Provide direction and guidance to location trainers
- Develop, teach, and monitor contents of classroom training to ensure compliance
- Schedule and deliver monthly safety meetings
- Strategic Planning and Reporting
- Coordinate monthly safety reporting
- Bring together performance trends in safety KPIs, delivery against location safety plans, and safety risk assessments
- Inform the location leadership team and client of safety performance with timely alerts
- Drive a continuous improvement culture in safety performance
- Management of Onboard Surveillance Systems
- Monitor and evaluate the continued effectiveness of risk control strategies
- Identify and assess new hazards introduced in the workplace
- Oversee ongoing monitoring and recording of safety performance
- Safety Promotion
- Establish and maintain a culture of safety
- Display exemplary safety-oriented behaviors
- Ensure a just culture within the organization
Requirements
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- Certified Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) bus operator trainer
- Class “B” CDL with Airbrakes, and Passenger endorsements
- Valid active medical examiner’s certificate
- At least 3 years’ progressive transit experience with commercial class “B” vehicles in a transit system
- Knowledgeable with DOT policies, FTA, OSHA, NIMS, EPA standards, and ADA requirements
- Experience developing and implementing safety program plans and procedures; conducting investigations, analyzing data, and identifying and recommending corrective action
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material
- Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Transportation Dispatching Software knowledge desired
- Previous experience with Onboard Technology for Transit Systems
Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Suite
- CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company)
Skills
- Possess a working knowledge of adult education principles and practices
- Possess the skills necessary to write and express oneself orally in a logical, comprehensive, and intelligent manner, as well as good organizational skills
- Possess the temperament necessary for maintaining amiable relations with various levels of company personnel
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
- Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Transportation Dispatching Software knowledge desired
- Previous experience with Onboard Technology for Transit Systems
