Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership in area of responsibility.
- Audit and assist in the compliance of MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 training plans.
- Assist branch managers with required training and training logistics.
- Develop partnerships with qualified MSHA trainers both externally and at client sites.
- Manage information generation and submission of MSHA 7000-1 and 7000-2 reports.
- Conduct periodic safety meetings, safety training, safety audits, risk assessments, and other safety related assistance at branch and job site locations with emphasis on job sites.
- Create effective safety partnerships with all employees and client safety departments.
- Ensure the effectiveness of day-to-day safety compliance and procedures.
- Lead or take part in the investigation and conduct Root Cause Analysis on all injury/illness and/or near hit incidents to include corrective action plans.
- Assist, advise, follow-up, and/or lead implementation with local management on corrective actions with all incidents and near hits.
- Implement and follow-up on regional safety policies and procedures.
- Provide Safety and Health related information to responsible manager/person to assist in their completing vendor pre-qualification questionnaires and packages.
- Assist, or act as backup resource, to other Safety Managers (all business units) and Safety Director in the Region.
- Assist Safety Director, as needed, with client meetings and presentations to demonstrate Konecranes safety commitment and history.
- Represent company with safety and health regulatory agencies including MSHA, OSHA and Cal OSHA.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1926 and applicable MSHA 30 CFR standards.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a plus.
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft® Office.
- Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
- Must be a highly motivated and motivational team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, or equivalent preferred.
- 5 or more years of progressive safety management experience in occupational safety and health within an industrial service or mine mining sector is required.
- Experience with both OSHA and MSHA standards is required.
- Safety certifications such as CSP, OHST, CHST and CMSP are considered a strong asset.
