Safety & Health Inspector, Buffalo (NY HELPS)

Description Duties

The incumbent within the Division of Safety & Health (DOSH) will:

• Plan, schedule, and conduct safety and health inspections of selected work sites such as state, county, city, and town offices.
• Inspect work sites such as places of public assembly, ski areas, carnivals, fairs and amusement parks, explosives magazines, power scaffolds, and other window-washing operations.
• Inspect asbestos abatement projects.
• Ensure conformance with established standards, identify unsafe conditions and work practices, and protect workers and the public.
• Travel multiple days/nights for training purposes, not exceeding one week for state programs and two weeks for federal programs.
