Ruder Electric of The State Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator based in Kankakee, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key safety contact for customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies on job sites.
- Conduct and document inspections and incident investigations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform safety audits of work practices, housekeeping, equipment, and materials.
- Track audit findings, inspections, and corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA, EPA, COR, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
- Report safety concerns, risks, and non-compliance issues to Safety Management and Operations leadership.
- Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or behaviors, including coaching personnel and isolating equipment when required.
- Promote a strong safety culture through accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
- At least 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
- Intermediate knowledge with Excel, safety recordkeeping, safety software, and training databases.
- Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills.
- CSP or CHST certification preferred.
