About the role

The Safety Coordinator position at Lake Cable is designed for individuals passionate about making a difference in the safety of manufacturing environments. With a focus on reducing work-related injuries and fostering a culture of safety excellence, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support facility safety programs to ensure OSHA compliance and workplace safety.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and implement new safety processes, guidance, and best practices that drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to develop engineering controls and innovative solutions that eliminate or reduce workplace hazards.
  • Conduct employee safety orientations, training programs, toolbox talks, and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Track safety metrics, corrective actions, and compliance activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and participate in safety committees and improvement projects.
  • Perform PPE inspections when applicable and maintain log with inspection dates.
  • Complete inspection logs, training certificates, forms (disciplinary action for safety violations), etc., and draft and submit reports and work orders related to health and safety operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, safety training, and incident investigations.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • OSHA 30 and professional certifications (ASP, CSP, CHST, etc.) are a plus.

  • Experience developing safety standards, procedures, and engineering-based solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Conflict resolution skills.

Work Environment

Mainly work in a plant environment with some office work and meetings, as necessary. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle, grasp, and reach with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, or squatting, and moving up to 30 pounds.
