Safety Assistant

Primary Purpose

Aid in the administration of plant environmental, health, and safety policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and meet or exceed established goals.

Essential Functions

• Assist in the training of plant safety practices and document as directed to create a safe working environment.
• File Worker’s Compensation claims as needed and maintain document files.
• Accompany employees on initial physician visits and/or drug screens as needed, and attend follow-up visits.
• Work with the Safety Manager on various projects and initiatives.
• Assist in conducting ongoing safety inspections and audits of facilities, operations, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for all AWC employees.
• Maintain SDS Programs.
• Participate on assigned teams and/or projects.
• Model CITE and Working in Teams principles.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Safety Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Good personal computer skills; Microsoft products experience preferred (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and understand PHI.
• Must have experience in working in a team environment to meet/exceed goals.
• Strong planning/organization and time management skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
