Safety and Training Supervisor
About the role
The Safety, Environmental and Training Supervisor will guide on health, safety, security, and training policies and standards, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. They will oversee training activities, contribute to safety and security initiatives, and support the development of safety and security programs.
Responsibilities
- Implement applicable Menzies Aviation Policies and Procedures
- Provide timely regional management reports, weekly and monthly as required
- Oversee training activities in the station
- Plan and coordinate safety and security priorities within the station to achieve consistent standards
- Take a proactive approach in addressing local training implementation
- Adhere to Menzies training policies as defined in the company Learning Development Policy
- Assist Manager with driving corporate safety and security programs
- Drive safety and security programs through hazard identification and risk control
- Develop policy and procedures
- Proactively promote a 'safety first' culture
- Support the field operation to introduce safe and secure working procedures and proactively audit daily inspections and audits program
- Establish and support Health and Safety Committee
- Accident and incident reporting and investigation
- Prepare for and take part in audits conducted by airlines and regulatory agencies
- Take the lead in regulatory compliance review, including Hazardous Materials permits and handling, air permit and regulation compliance, water permit and regulation compliance, prepare and submit accurate records to regulatory agencies
- Manage, maintain and coordinate underground storage tank regulatory compliance, including annual submittals and inspections
- Liaise with the Airport Environmental team to coordinate training and inspections required for compliance
- Manage hazardous waste manifests and coordinate pickup within regulatory guidelines
- Prepare and manage OSHA 300 logs/injury reports and EPA Tier II chemical inventory reports
- Maintain GHS and hazard communication information for all employees
- Prepare and manage annual storm- and waste-water reports
- Develop, review, evaluate site specific EHS training procedures
- Investigate all hazards and risks across the operations and implement corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate risks through industry standards or engineering controls
- Track, measure, analyze EHS performances and implement corrective/preventative actions
- Facilitate the distribution of network safety and security alerts on a knowledge-sharing basis to increase awareness
- Report any significant deficiencies in our products, processes, materials and/or documents
- Suggest any improvements to working practices especially those relating to safety and security
- Conduct the duties of an auditor, as described in the Quality Assurance Manual, as required
- Assist with Operational Manuals to remain current
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain valid US driver’s license
- Pass all pre-employment testing including a physical, color vision test, audio test, and drug test
- Handle fueling carts and fueling hoses which will require you to lift and move up to 70lbs
- Must be able to perform basic math calculations
- Pass background check and obtain US Custom seal as required
- Available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
- Able to obtain and maintain all required Airports and Custom badges/seals
- High school diploma, GED or six months experience as an Operations Agent
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Comeptent in handling difficult situations
- Advanced Computer Skills
- Prior Airline or Compliance experience required
