About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Full-Time Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright Patterson AFB in Fairborn, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Program Manager for the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Safety Management System (SMS) for the installation.
  • Act as the expert analyst and consultant for the programs.
  • Affirmatively support the planning, directing, and organizing of the work assigned to the Occupational Safety Office.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Command, USAF, OSHA, and other governmental guidelines, regulations, status, and information applicable to managing a Center Level occupational safety program.
  • Knowledge of accepted risk management techniques to include Risk Management and Test safety Review Processes.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Other Significant Facts Pertaining To This Position

  • Work may occasionally require travel from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
  • The incumbent may be required to work overtime or an irregular work shift.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle.
  • An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion related to frequent on-site inspections and surveys requiring considerable standing, walking, climbing, bending, stretching, or similar movements.
  • May need to lift and carry moderately heavy objects, up to estimated 50 lbs.
