Safety and Occupational Health Specialist

About the Role

The Safety and Occupational Health Specialist provides expert guidance and oversight for a nationwide safety program. They serve as a subject matter expert in occupational safety, compliance, and risk management, supporting inspections, training, and program development.

Responsibilities

• Offer guidance on hazard control, safety policies, and regulatory compliance
• Conduct inspections, investigations, and risk assessments to develop corrective actions
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and recommend preventive measures
• Review construction and project plans for safety adherence
• Create and deliver safety policies, training, and guidance programs
• Support safety data management, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts
• Represent the organization in meetings with stakeholders and regulators

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related fields; or equivalent with technical coursework
• At least five years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health
• Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of OSH laws, regulations, and safety principles
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and identify hazards in diverse facilities
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Capacity to develop procedures and recommend control measures for complex safety issues
