RVT or Veterinary Assistant with no anesthesia experience

About Us

Oakridge Equine Hospital, located in Edmond, OK, is a high-volume equine referral practice with a team of twelve doctors, including 5 boarded equine surgeons, 1 boarded large animal internist, and 6 veterinary interns. We are seeking a full-time, motivated, and energetic individual to support our busy and growing practice. The ideal candidate will deliver excellent patient care, demonstrate eagerness to learn, and grow with our team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, procedures, and treatments.
  • Monitor and care for hospitalized patients.
  • Safely handle and restrain horses.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support effective client communication.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, biosecurity, and restocking of equipment and supplies.
  • Rotate through different services, including each surgeon, our boarded internal medicine specialist, intensive care unit (ICU), and anesthesia.
  • Adapt daily to assigned services and learn the specifics of each role.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills.
  • Background with equine knowledge.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Willingness to learn the ins and outs of each service assigned.
  • Previous experience with running anesthesia on horses is preferred (training provided for candidates without experience).
