Experienced Veterinary Assistant or RVT

Key Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and place IV catheters accurately and safely
• Prepare patients and surgical areas for procedures
• Monitor anesthesia during surgeries and assist the veterinarian throughout
• Assist the doctor in exam rooms during patient evaluations
• Sometimes fill in at the front desk, handling client check-ins and phone calls
• Perform cytology readings to assist in diagnosis
• Safely restrain animals, including aggressive patients, to ensure safety of all
• Calculate and prepare accurate medication doses
• Work collaboratively as part of a veterinary team
• Commit to working one late night per week until 7pm
• Clean and maintain exam rooms and kennels to ensure a sanitary environment
• Provide attentive care for hospitalized patients
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing education and support regarding their pets’ health

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• Proficient in blood draws, IV catheter placement, surgical prep, and anesthetic monitoring
• Strong skills in safe and aggressive animal restraint techniques
• Excellent communication and client education skills
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Flexibility to work one late night shift per week (until 7pm)
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
