Russian Language Intern

Colgate University’s Russian and Eurasian Studies Program seeks a Russian Language Intern for the 2024-2025 academic year. Renewal for an additional year is possible, contingent on institutional need and performance.

About the role

The intern supports lead instructors in language courses, assists students through tutoring and extracurricular activities, and contributes to the program’s cultural initiatives. Interns do not teach standalone courses or assign grades.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors and professors in Russian language courses
• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring for students
• Correct student homework and essays
• Organize extracurricular cultural and language activities (e.g., social events, Table of Babel)
• Support Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum (CLAC) courses
• Collaborate with Keck Language Center staff
• Participate actively in the campus language club
• Perform other duties assigned by the program or department chair

Requirements

• Fluency in Russian and sufficient English proficiency to function in an English-speaking environment
• Currently pursuing or holding an undergraduate or graduate degree
• J-1 visa sponsorship available

Pay

Schedule

Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.
