Rural Emergency Medicine with Mercy Arkansas - Family Medicine Welcome, 12-36 hour shifts available
About the Role
Mercy Arkansas is recruiting an emergency medicine physician (Family Medicine trained are welcome) for four critical-access hospitals located outside of Fort Smith, AR in Ozark, Booneville, Paris, and Waldron. This is a hospital-employed position with no partnership track or buy-in, offering equal parity, scheduling, and voting rights from day one.
- 25-bed, critical access hospitals
- Annual ED volume of 5,000-10,000 patients
- Easy transfers (ground and air) to Mercy Hospital – Fort Smith, a trauma center and tertiary hospital within the same network
- Hospitalists available 24-hours per day for admissions
- No hospitalist work or inpatient rounding required
- MRI and CT available
- Basic emergency procedures available including Glidescope and Ultrasound
- No trauma designation
- Less than 1.5 patients per hour on average
- EPIC EMR across Mercy

Schedule
- Schedule completed three months in advance for a great work/life balance
- Options for 12, 24, or 36-hour shifts

- Booneville: Nestled in the Arkansas River Valley between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains, Booneville is renowned for its scenic beauty, including landmarks like Petit Jean River, Ozark National Forest, and Mount Magazine.
- Ozark: Located on Interstate 40, Ozark offers breathtaking views of the Arkansas River and recreational fun at Ozark Lake. It's also close to wine country and just 120 miles from Little Rock.
- Paris: Home to Mount Magazine, the highest point in Arkansas, Paris boasts beautiful landscapes and a thriving community ideal for families and retirees.
All locations offer incredible outdoor recreation in the Ozark mountains, fishing, lake and river sports, and nearby access to Fort Smith, Northwest Arkansas, and Little Rock.
