American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a Running Program Director/Head Coach (6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field) who is passionate about both running and helping students grow physically, spiritually, socially, and intellectually.

About the Role

This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. The Running Program Director/Head Coach (6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field) is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the cross country and track and field teams for boys and girls in grades 6-12, as well as the elementary school running program
  • Guide coaches and parent volunteers
  • Uphold the mission and standards of American Heritage School

Qualifications

  • Running background
  • Experience with track and field and cross country
  • Coaching experience
  • An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character
  • A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication and management skills

Faith and Mission Responsibilities

  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into athletics administration where appropriate
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission

Professional Expectations

  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus
  • Ensure personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose

Pay

Compensation is a seasonal stipend per season.
