RT Ops Security Spec Sr

Job Description

• Create, configure, and maintain firewall rules and policies
• Manage network ports, port openings, and related access requests
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to firewalls, ports, and network traffic
• Collaborate with IT, security, and application teams to support secure deployments
• Review firewall logs and monitor for unauthorized or suspicious activity
• Ensure firewall configurations align with security standards and compliance requirements
• Document firewall changes, port mappings, and network access procedures
• Support testing and validation of firewall and port changes before production release
• Lead security incident response efforts and investigations
• Develop and deliver training on OT security best practices
• Develops and maintains necessary documentation of security systems, projects, and/or processes to ensure unified understanding of system details
• Plans and implements complex security projects/initiatives/incidents
• Translates and presents security topics competently to team members and AEP's leaders
• Establishes recommendations based on options presented
• Presents security information in a clear and concise manner
• Collaborates on team learning needs and engages in opportunities to increase knowledge in security areas
• Gathers first-hand information on security requirements to find the most cost-effective improvements in security posture
• Researches and supplies new opportunities to improve security posture
• Manages time and resources efficiently to accommodate multiple assignments
• Formulates most effective work plan and shares with other team members and groups to meet required security objectives
• Communicates the role and expectations of Security in meeting Enterprise Security strategies and requirements

What We're Looking For

• Education: Minimum of an Associate’s degree in an applicable area OR equivalent education and experience of a high school diploma/GED and two (2) years of relevant experience in an applicable area or certification in an applicable area. Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Experience: Four (4) years of relevant experience in a related role.
• Licenses/Certifications: CISSP or other Security certification preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge of OT protocols and security technologies
• Over-time, on-call assignments, and occasional travel may be required.
