About the Job

The Center for Pediatric Obesity Medicine (CPOM) seeks a full time Study Coordinator to support a high-volume decentralized trial with adolescent participants. CPOM is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to improving outcomes for youth navigating obesity and its related conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Research Project Coordination (50%)

    • Coordinate all aspects of study participation throughout the full life-cycle of the trial, including recruitment and screening, ensuring study eligibility, conducting informed consent (with parents) and assent (with adolescents), scheduling, and conducting virtual study visits
    • Lead structured virtual study visits via secure telehealth platforms, maintaining a professional clinical environment in a remote setting
    • Track participant payment cards and initiate payments after study visits
    • Facilitate the timely review and reporting of adverse reactions and serious adverse events
    • Provide basic troubleshooting for study-provided technology
    • Actively participate in weekly study team meetings to report on enrollment progress, participant challenges, technological troubles, and other related topics
    • Identify potential gaps or concerns in the workflows and suggest practical changes for improvement to the study’s leadership team
    • Additional study-related activities, as assigned
  • Data Collection (30%)

    • Oversee the collection of participant-reported outcome surveys
    • Administer surveys to and conduct interviews with study participants
    • Maintain high quality source documentation and participant files
    • Promptly and accurately enter participant data in databases
  • Clinical Intervention & Supply Coordination (20%)

    • Under the supervision of the study physicians, instruct participants how to administer study medications and proper disposal of used pens
    • Initiate and track study medication orders through the Investigational Drug Services pharmacy
    • Proactively resolve issues related to medication delivery and participant receipt of study materials
    • Routinely assess participant medication compliance, utilizing motivational interviewing and education to troubleshoot adherence barriers
    • Coordinate remote laboratory visits; ensure participants receive transportation vouchers and instructions for blood draws and biometric measurements
    • Monitor participants for adverse events and changes in health status

Qualifications

  • All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

    • BA/BS in a scientific or health related field and at least 2 years research experience OR a combination of education and experience in research to equal at least 6 years
    • Expertise in telehealth platforms and demonstrated experience with computerized data management
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain deadlines and prioritize assignments
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including in a virtual environment
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with adolescents and their caregivers in a research or high-volume clinical setting
    • Experience with REDCap data management and Oncore Clinical Trials Management System
    • Bilingual Spanish/English speaker with experience speaking both languages in a professional setting

Essential Employees

The successful candidate will be designated as an Essential Employee. Essential Employees are expected to report to campus during a University State of Emergency (reduced operations or campus closure) unless specifically directed by the Department not to report or if directed by civil emergency or medical authorities not to report for health and safety reasons. As an Essential Employee, you must report to campus even if the closure is less than 3 days.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $55,000 - $75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
