About The Job

The Research Professional 2 – Clinical Research Coordinator-RN will primarily coordinate and support interventional clinical trials within the Gynecologic Oncology division. This position will work closely with Principal Investigators, providers, research staff, patients, and study sponsors to coordinate clinical trial activities from study start-up through closeout. The position will have responsibility for identifying and enrolling eligible patients, obtaining informed consent, coordinating complex study visits, performing research-related nursing procedures, monitoring participant safety, and ensuring study activities are completed in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), applicable regulations, and University policies. This position requires the ability to work with moderate independence, apply professional judgment, and resolve routine technical and operational issues related to clinical trial coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment, Screening & Enrollment – 10%
    • Collaborates with Principal Investigators, providers, and study team members to identify, recruit, screen, and enroll eligible study participants.
    • Reviews patient records and study requirements to determine potential eligibility.
    • Obtains informed consent and provides participants with information regarding study participation.
    • Coordinates participant scheduling and follow-up activities throughout the study.
  • Clinical Research Procedures – 50%
    • Executes study-required clinical and research procedures in collaboration with clinical staff and according to study protocols.
    • Performs nursing assessments and research-related nursing procedures within the scope of RN licensure.
    • Administers study-related medications and performs medication reconciliation as required by study protocols.
    • Monitors participant status, including laboratory results, disease signs and symptoms, and potential adverse events.
    • Identifies, evaluates, documents, and communicates adverse events, protocol deviations, and other study-related concerns.
    • Uses professional judgment to identify and address routine clinical research issues and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Patient & Staff Education – 10%
    • Educates study participants and clinical staff regarding study treatment plans, anticipated side effects, monitoring requirements, and follow-up guidelines.
    • Provides ongoing education and support throughout the participant's involvement in the study.
    • Serves as a clinical research resource for patients and members of the study and clinical teams.
  • Sponsor & Monitoring Visits – 10%
    • Participates in sponsor and monitor visits, including site initiation, interim monitoring, and study closeout visits.
    • Assists with preparation for monitoring activities and ensures study documentation is available and maintained appropriately.
    • Collaborates with sponsors, monitors, and other study partners to address routine study-related questions and follow-up items.
  • Study Coordination – 10%
    • Coordinates with internal departments, clinical staff, and other University departments to ensure study activities are completed according to protocol.
    • Coordinates delivery and handling of research medications, collection of biospecimens, and completion of study visits.
    • Maintains accurate study documentation, participant records, and research data.
    • Tracks study activities and provides status updates to the Principal Investigator and appropriate management.
    • Assists with study start-up activities, study staff training, and other activities necessary to support successful trial implementation.
  • Communication & Teamwork – 10%
    • Works collaboratively as a member of the clinical research team and serves as a liaison among investigators, clinical staff, participants, sponsors, and other collaborators.
    • Communicates information in a positive, timely, and professional manner across teams and organizational levels.
    • Provides timely updates regarding study activities, participant needs, and operational issues.
    • May provide guidance or mentorship to other members of the research team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical research or clinical trials experience.
  • Experience coordinating interventional clinical trials.
  • Oncology experience.
  • Gynecologic oncology or OB/GYN experience.
  • Outpatient clinic experience.
  • Experience with patient recruitment, informed consent, and research-related nursing procedures.
  • Experience coordinating clinical trial activities from study start-up through closeout.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical research regulations, and research compliance requirements.
  • Experience working independently to identify and resolve routine clinical research or operational issues.
  • Experience working with research sponsors, monitors, or other external study collaborators.

This position will support interventional clinical trials and work closely with physicians, nurses, research staff, and study sponsors to ensure studies are conducted safely and according to protocol.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $73,000 - $94,000/year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment (Hybrid)
