Job Description The Teller/Financial Services Representative is responsible for opening and closing accounts, renewing certificate accounts, and assisting customers with bookkeeping and checking account problems. He or she will answer customer questions regarding Bank services and perform a variety of account maintenance. The Financial Services Representative/Backup Teller also performs a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers’ checks, and cash advances. He or she balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals, performs specific assigned side-jobs, helps other Tellers with a variety of duties as required, and ensures that customers are served promptly and professionally. In addition, the Teller/Financial Services Representative cross-sells services, performs related receptionist and secretarial functions as required, helps customers with any and all questions or problems that arise, and attends to all telephone inquiries and transactions. Generally, this employee works as needed at branch locations in the Eastern Idaho area. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years oldHigh school diploma or GED requiredBanking experience preferredBasic cash handling skills/experience preferredKnowledge of bank operations policies and procedures preferredAble to operate related computer applications and business equipment, including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, telephone, scanner, and branch capture machineProfessional appearance, dress, and attitudeGood communication skillsGood typing skillsGood math skills Responsibilities Represents the Bank in a courteous and professional mannerReceives deposits and loan payments in person or by mailProcesses cash advances, gift/travel cards, cashiers’ checks, government bonds, and similar transactionsDisburses cash for checks/withdrawals and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balancesProcesses transfersProcesses assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of dayVerifies transactions, monitors deposit amounts, examines documents for proper endorsement and negotiability, and detects and resolves discrepancies promptlyMaintains security of assigned work area, places cash in teller drawer, and locks all drawers when leaving work areaPlaces holds on uncollected funds when necessary in accordance with established policyEnsures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolvedOperates online teller terminal and provides in person, by telephone, or by mail information that customers may authorize concerning their account statusPerforms drive-up teller and night drop functions as assignedOpens and closes accounts by obtaining information from the customer and entering into the computer systemCompiles, researches, and implements new policies, programs, procedures and services dealing with branch operationsProvides technical support and training related to new accounts and teller software programsAssists with IRA and HSA branch support, verifications, training and audits as assignedRenews and updates certificate accounts and contacts customers with maturing certificates of deposit and notifies them of promotional offersPerforms file maintenance and account changes as needed, such as address changes, etc., and stays up to date on pending documentation, such as verifying accounts opened by other branch personnelParticipates in branch openingsReviews, monitors, and creates a variety of reportsMaintains privacy of customer account informationDirects calls to appropriate person/department as necessary and records and relays messages as appropriateHelps other area personnel as requiredKeeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concernsCompletes required reports and records accurately and promptlyCross-sells bank services by maintaining a general working knowledge of all bank productsKeeps work area and equipment clean, secure, and well maintainedCompletes special projects as assignedAttends meetings as requiredMaintains the professional reputation of D.L.
