Route Supervisor
About the role
The Transportation Supervisor oversees daily transportation and/or distribution operations for the assigned facility or satellite location. This role supervises route execution, delivery schedules, and workflow efficiency, monitors productivity, service levels, and operational accuracy, provides hands-on operational support, conducts safety audits, and leads ongoing safety training initiatives.
Responsibilities

- Supervise route execution, delivery schedules, and workflow efficiency
- Maintain KPIs and ensure operational accuracy
- Provide hands-on operational support as needed, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, loading, and delivery
- Direct and coach delivery drivers, leveraging performance metrics, safety standards, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Support business growth through customer visits and sharing sales leads
- Evaluate processes and implement operational improvements to optimize workflows and labor utilization
- Adjust staffing, schedules, and routing based on changing business needs
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in transportation, distribution, or operations leadership
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience; package delivery preferred
- Experience managing delivery drivers, fleet operations, or last-mile transportation
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop drivers through ride-alongs, safety coaching, and customer service training
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Experience operating pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts preferred
- Experience with loading docks, desktop deliveries, and bulk deliveries preferred
- Ability and willingness to operate a delivery vehicle or run a route when needed to support operations during peak periods or emergencies
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no moving violations within the past 36 months)
- Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) qualification requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors preferred
- Experience using KPIs, safety metrics, and operational data to drive performance improvements
- Experience using handheld POD devices or tablets for delivery tracking and confirmation
- Familiarity with GPS routing systems and scanning devices
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
The salary range for this role is $60,000/year to $75,000/year, however all state and local minimum wages will be complied with, resulting in a possible adjustment to the salary range displayed.
