Responsibilities
- Manage the daily activities and performance of route drivers
- Train, coach, and direct employees to improve their overall performance
- Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceeded
- Run routes as necessary (absences, vacations, vehicle breakdowns)
- Monitor and track employee attendance and all other required documentation relating to performance management
- Conduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claims
- Fill in during the absence of other supervisors/office employees or drivers
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- This position will manage 6-20 employees
- This position will not oversee and direct other managers
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and develop a team
- Computer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft applications
- Proven customer service skills
- Knowledge of the area with the ability to read maps
- Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problems
- Knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulations
- Ability to drive a truck with manual transmission, a plus
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous management experience is preferred
- Previous waste industry experience is a plus
- 2+ years of truck driving experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
- Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
- Frequently working outside in changing temperatures
- Occasionally working in wet/humid conditions
- Occasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
- Frequently climbing and/or balancing
- Frequently sitting/standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects
- Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
- Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
- No more than 2 DUI's or OVI's within the last 10 years or 1 within the last 5 years
- Exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
