Route Auditor
About the role
The Route Auditor rides with a driver during their scheduled commercial or residential route to identify enhanced operating efficiencies, ensure accurate billing, and uncover opportunities for service improvements and safety enhancements. The auditor recommends changes to route scheduling, service capabilities, or other aspects to improve the customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Ride with assigned driver on designated commercial and/or residential routes to gather data, including travel times, disposal volumes, service and collection times, and accuracy of the route sheet to reduce cost, improve revenue, and mitigate safety hazards.
- Ensure proper customer billing by verifying actual container weight, container size, and number of weekly pickups; report discrepancies to Sales, Customer Service, and/or Accounts Receivable.
- Identify opportunities for additional revenue and inform Sales and/or Customer Service.
- Use Route Editor program to identify overlapping routes and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Identify safety hazards associated with the route and recommend changes.
- Recommend container repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports of route audit findings; review data and recommended improvements with General Manager and department managers.
- Enter data into the customer database regarding route audit findings.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a commercial driver or a waste industry helper.
- Experience in a customer-facing position.
- Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
- Strong follow-through ability; adheres to work schedule and addresses challenges as they arise.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
