Rotor Technician/Mill Operator

Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate various machine tools to repair and manufacture mechanical assemblies (horizontal and vertical mills).
• Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizing.
• Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety procedures.
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas.
• Understand machine lubrication, maintenance and proper operation.
• Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by lead person, supervisor, plant manager and/or president.
• Read drawings/blueprints.
• Fabricate equipment by cutting, burning and welding various metals.
• Repair equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
• Build up worn or defective surfaces (e.g., welding up shafts so they can be re-machined).
• Use burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut materials.
• Provide own tools and toolbox.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school, vocational/technical school, military, or on-the-job training).
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training and operational and safety procedures.
• Ability to work well with others in a team effort.
