Description
The Rotary Die Cutter Assistant Operator position at Smurfit Westrock involves performing all job functions related to setting up and operating rotary die cutters. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting factory work orders and print cards, mounting cutting dies and print plates, recovering and adding ink, checking viscosity and pH levels, and performing washouts. The role also requires assisting operators during setup and preparing machines for subsequent setups. Additionally, this position involves following safety protocols, completing necessary paperwork, and using available downtime to prepare for the next setup.
Requirements
- The ability to learn and perform all job functions of the Rotary Die Cutter Assistant Operator daily.
- The ability to read, comprehend, and interpret written and graphic instructions on factory work orders, factory print cards, and understand design specifications.
- The ability to write, read a tape measure in 1/16 increments, and demonstrate basic mathematical knowledge including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- To follow instructions, work as a team member, and communicate effectively with coworkers.
- Previous experience preferred, but not required. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Ability to deal with other employees and management in a courteous, tactful, and patient manner.
- Basic computer skills and some multitasking abilities are required.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) occasionally.
- Standing for 10 to 12 hours per day and walking to and from various machines and locations throughout the facility.
- Ability to grasp objects with hands and fingers.
- Ability to repetitively bend and twist at trunk level.
- Ability to crouch and/or kneel when required.
