About the role
The machine operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of his/her machine and overseeing of all employees assigned to his/her machine, in accordance with safety and work rules, under the supervision of Production management.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of mechanical functions of the machine and display a high degree of trouble-shooting ability.
- Understand basic principles of corrugated, flutes, and corrugation direction.
- Determine, as needed, the best order to run various jobs for greater efficiency.
- Responsible for set up of all sections of the machine and stacker sections.
- Able to delegate machine responsibilities to crew members to insure the most efficient operation of the machine center.
- Able to assist in run rate improvements, quality improvements and downtime elimination at the machine center.
- Able to add/remove machine parts by hand, utilizing wrenches, as needed.
- Must be a self-starter, able to operate from directions or independently as needed.
- Able to train helpers to take over the Operator position so that continuous run processes can be established, as needed.
- Ensure the quality of the finished product produced at the machine.
- Ensure productivity and throughput levels are maintained at the machine.
- Responsible for all associated order paperwork.
- Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards.
- Resolve quality issues, involving management for resolution of issues or confirming quality expectations as needed to ensure top quality to meet customer needs.
- Perform die cutting, square folding, automatic bottoms, gap control, adhesion printing, sheet scoring tasks.
- Perform machine maintenance and housekeeping duties.
- Work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Skills
- Self-starter and able to operate from directions or independently as needed.
- Teamwork and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
- Ability to train helpers to take over the Operator position.
- Willingness and ability to work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.

Pay
Commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Hourly, Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 3:30pm – 11:20pm. Primary schedule will be 2nd shift but must be flexible/able to work overtime & weekends, if needed.
