Rooms Manager in Training
About the Role
This 12–18-month rotational program provides a structured pathway for developing future leaders within the Rooms Division at Four Seasons. Participants gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments across key Rooms departments, including Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and other guest-facing operations. The program is designed to develop the Manager in Training (MIT) into an Assistant Manager upon successful completion, subject to performance.
During the program, the MIT will learn Four Seasons standards and progressively take on supervisory responsibilities in two or more Rooms Division departments while building the leadership and operational skills needed for long-term success.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily shift briefings, ensure that all new hires have been properly trained and entered into the payroll system according to training manuals, give feedback and coaching to all service staff, and communicate progress of training to management.
- Complete and understand all line-level positions in your respective department.
- Resolve guest concerns and service recovery situations with professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
- Train, develop, coach, and mentor line-level employees while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to ensure new team members are successfully integrated into the department and culture.
- Monitor departmental service standards and identify opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and the overall guest experience.
- Assist with scheduling, payroll review, staffing plans, and labor management to support operational and business objectives.
- Conduct room inspections and operational audits to ensure compliance with Four Seasons standards, brand expectations, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Engineering, and other hotel departments to ensure seamless service delivery throughout the guest journey.
- Review and analyze guest feedback, online reviews, and service metrics to identify trends and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, hotel procedures, and local health, safety, and security regulations.
- Act as Manager on Duty when assigned, responding to guest and operational needs while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Build strong relationships with guests, recognizing preferences and creating personalized experiences that foster loyalty and repeat visits.
- Assist in developing and implementing departmental action plans, goals, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead by example in demonstrating Four Seasons' Golden Rule and service culture in all guest and employee interactions.
- Facilitate performance discussions and provide ongoing coaching and recognition to support employee growth and development.
- Participate in leadership meetings, hotel committees, and special projects to gain broader business and management exposure.
- Drive continuous learning by completing program milestones, leadership assignments, and development projects throughout the MIT journey.
Requirements
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Two to three years of previous employment in the hospitality industry.
- College degree in Hospitality or a related area.
- 12-18 month commitment for the program.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to walk and be on feet for up to 8 hours.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS), Microsoft Office applications, and general computer software.
- Professional appearance and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and support team members.
- Legal work authorization in the United States.
