Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, nursing, and family members when obtaining meal choices to enter into the CBORD computerized Room Service tablet system.
  • Verify patient satisfaction, identify meal service problems, and assist patients on missed meal reports for menu selections each meal.
  • Communicate with the dietitian or dietetic technician when patient food/beverage/supplement intake is poor.
  • Communicate patient’s special requests for food not allowed on their diets or diet education.
  • Accurately enter and update all meal selections/orders/preferences/special requests for food in CBORD system and maintain the most current information regarding patient diet orders.
  • If patient is unable to select meal verbally, take order or enter into CBORD On Demand.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work environment and perform cleaning and waste disposal and equipment operation duties in accordance with departmental policies and/or procedures.
  • Monitor, rotate, and fill floor stock according to pars.
  • Check refrigerators and dry storage area in pantries for cleanliness and out-of-date product, discard as needed.
  • Identify safety hazards in the department and react to eliminate hazards quickly.
  • Deliver all patient nourishments, snacks, and tube feeding products.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to perform duties of the Room Service Call Representative as needed.

Qualifications

  • BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read and communicate in the English language. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and the ability to compute percentages. High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Strong basic computer skills.
  • EXPERIENCE: At least one year previous food service or customer service experience is required. CBORD experience preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Mostly standing/walking, with other movement such as repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing may be required.
  • Speech, sight, and hearing to effectively communicate by varied means including, but not limited to, telephone, in person, and fax.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Exposure to patient environment.
