Robot Assembly Technician, Body

1X · Hayward, CA · 3 wk ago
On-siteManagement$28–$36/hrFull-time

About the role

The Manufacturing team is where NEO goes from CAD files to physical reality. Every robot that ships to a customer's home passes through our hands first, and the precision of our work directly determines whether NEO performs safely and reliably in the real world. This team is critical to 1X's mission - without us, there is no robot, no shipment, and no abundance to create.

Key Outcomes

  • Consistently meet daily and weekly production output targets without compromising on quality or safety standards
  • Deliver subassemblies that pass first-time inspection, minimizing rework and downstream defects
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and proper torque specifications across every assembly you complete
  • Identify and escalate process issues, tooling problems, or recurring defects so the line gets better over time
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work area that meets ESD and manufacturing standards every shift

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments (calipers, torque wrenches, gauges)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform sustained hands-on, physical work throughout a shift
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience assembling robotics, aerospace, medical device, or other precision mechanical products
  • Familiarity with ESD procedures and controlled manufacturing environments
  • Experience with high-mix, low-volume or early-stage production environments where processes are still being refined
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Range: $28.00/hr – $36.00/hr + Equity
Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave; 401(k) plan with company match (100% on the first 3% of contributions, 50% on the next 2%); Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) options; Commuter benefits (transit and parking); Short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance; Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health, financial, and personal support; Onsite snacks and catered lunches
