What You Will Do

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Roadway Project Engineer to support our Transportation Group in Metro Nashville, TN. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 3 days of onsite office attendance.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

  • Performing engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support.
  • Developing plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Establishing working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers.
  • Aiding in the recruitment of junior engineers.
  • Manning and mentoring junior engineers on project assignments.
  • Attending internal and external meetings with the team.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers.
  • Coordinating the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff.
  • Managing and leading projects and completing tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines.
  • Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance.
  • Performing project QA/QC.
  • Assisting project managers with various other tasks.
  • Multi-tasking and managing workload on various projects simultaneously.
  • Undertaking tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Participate in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team.
  • Support GFT efforts to grow our Transportation Practice in Tennessee.

Education | Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee, or the ability to obtain a license within 3 months; additional state licensure is a plus.
  • 8-10 years of progressive engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway design.
  • Prior experience with Tennessee Department of Transportation projects preferred, including well versed in client design policies, standards, and specifications.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
