About the role

We're looking for a Roadway Project Engineer to join our Transportation Group. This role offers the opportunity to lead design efforts on a wide range of transportation projects, including corridor studies, roadway rehabilitation, ADA compliance, and complex interchanges. The ideal candidate will bring DOT design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design on transportation engineering projects including intersections, local streets, collectors, arterials, rural roadways, trails, and sidewalks with ADA facilities.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and survey data to plan and assemble construction documents.
  • Conduct preliminary engineering evaluations and studies to identify design alternatives and assist in making recommendations.
  • Prepare project quantities and cost estimates.
  • Ensure project quality in accordance with QA/QC guidelines.
  • Provide hands-on expertise and contribute to complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff and support their career development.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required; PE license preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in project design and plan development; DOT experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and Bentley's OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Able to lead design tasks across a variety of transportation project types.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
