Roads & Grounds Assistant Supervisor
About the role
Tessera is seeking a professional and motivated Roads & Grounds Assistant Supervisor with a helpful attitude. The Roads & Grounds Assistant Supervisor performs a variety of administrative and semi-skilled to skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of roads and grounds at Fort Gregg-Adams. The Roads & Grounds Assistant Supervisor provides oversight of Roads and Grounds operations in the absence of the supervisor.

- Foster positive client interactions using effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect, empathy, and responsiveness.
Typical Duties
- Assists with the supervision of equipment operators, mechanics, truck drivers, grounds maintenance workers, laborers and temporary employees as required.
- Assists with employee professional development, training, performance evaluations and counseling.
- Assists with executing the work priorities and staff assignments.
- Provides supervisor with input regarding assigned area of responsibility.
- Advise employees regarding official plans, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with providing oversight of mowing and grounds maintenance; seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering and weed control.
- Assists with providing oversight in the construction/repair/maintenance of roads, including clearing, grading, drainage, and foundation work.
- Assists with providing oversight in the unskilled maintenance of buildings to include removal of vegetation, roof and gutter cleaning, general cleaning and mold removal, and other unskilled tasks.
- Aid the supervisor with preparation of various reports; schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, employee documents, time keeping and accident reports.
- Ensure quality service to meet contract requirements.
- Follow-up discrepancies identified by QC inspections and ensure corrections are made as necessary.
- Aid in implementing grounds maintenance safety programs to include issuance of PPE.
- Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments; train, motivate, evaluate and counsel assigned staff; review progress and direct changes as needed.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are maintained in accordance with preventive maintenance schedule.
- Operate tractor and/or mower and other equipment as necessary.
- Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Reading and understanding contract requirements and maps.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task throughout the workday, with constant interruptions.
- Ability to work with computerized work control systems (Microsoft Office) and spreadsheets.
- CDL B preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.

- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements
- Valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance carrier.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
