RN (Urgent Care EMS) - Loan Forgiveness - Full Time, Nights (Hollywood)

Specially trained to provide prompt response and treatment for patients with life-threatening, emergent, or urgent medical needs. Provides monitoring and therapeutic equipment necessary for specialized nursing care to acute or complex patients. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for assigned patients, ensuring coordination between disciplines, physicians, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional nursing duties incorporating psychosocial, psychomotor, and age-appropriate cognitive skills to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for patients on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
• Reevaluates patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge; revises plan or makes referrals as necessary.
• Acts as a role model and mentor to new graduate nurses, orientees, and support staff.
• Professional Clinical Practice:
  • Provides patient care, reviews and administers medications (including intravenous titrations), manages invasive lines, cardiac monitoring, ventilator management, treatments, and procedures in a safe, effective, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Recognizes changes in patient clinical conditions, takes appropriate action, and documents intervention.
  • Responds appropriately to Rapid Response Team (RRT), Code Blues, and Code Whites as assigned.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to intervene and advocate for patients as necessary.
  • Intervenes in instances of abuse, assault, or neglect, or when adequate financial or social resources are unavailable; makes appropriate referrals.
• Plan of Care:
  • Develops long- and short-term goals consistent with treatment plans, standards of practice, and patient preferences; discusses the plan of care with the patient.
  • Utilizes pain management resources and other interventions to provide pain relief.
  • Provides ongoing assessments and documents the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition and response to care.
  • Reviews patient test results, identifies critical results, and communicates them in a timely manner; correlates information into the plan of care.
  • Ensures nursing practice is evidence-based, within scope of licensure, and compliant with hospital-wide standards, including core measures, infection control, and HIPAA.
• Collaboration:
  • Collaborates with staff, physicians, and members of the healthcare team to coordinate care, focusing on efficient emergency/urgent care department throughput.
  • Supervises, monitors, and delegates patient care activities to appropriate team members, ensuring safe and high-quality care.
  • Acts as a source of information, providing resources, guidance, and education about treatment plans, care plans, and medications.
  • Develops and implements accurate teaching and ongoing discharge plans.
• Communication:
  • Empathizes with patients and their support systems, expressing compassion and demonstrating care appropriate for age, cultural, religious, gender identity, or ethnic background.
  • Engages in caring behaviors, taking ownership of work and making deliberate, thoughtful interactions with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.

Requirements

• Active, current, and unencumbered California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• One year of previous urgent care or EMS standby nursing experience or completion of an emergency department training course (including EMTALA and ESI 5-level triage).
• De-escalation certification upon hire; SAMA Certification required upon recertification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
• SAMA Certification upon hire.

Pay

Base Rate: $45.47 – $62.42 (12-hour rate, calculated by averaging 8 hours at base rate and 4 hours of overtime).

Pay Rate: $53.05 – $72.82 (12-hour rate).

$25,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates with one or more years of acute care RN hospital experience. Bonus paid in increments over 24 months to active employees in good standing. Current and some former Alta Hospital employees are not eligible.
