RN (ED) - Loan Forgiveness - Full Time, Nights (Culver City)
Specially trained to provide prompt response and treatment for patients with life-threatening, emergent, or urgent medical needs. Provides monitoring and therapeutic equipment necessary for specialized nursing care to acute or complex patients. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for assigned patients, ensuring coordination between disciplines, physicians, and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care, reviews and administers medications, including intravenous titrations, invasive and arterial lines, cardiac monitoring, ventilator management, treatments, and procedures in a safe, effective, and age-appropriate manner.
- Recognizes changes in patient clinical conditions, takes appropriate action, and documents interventions.
- Responds appropriately to Rapid Response Team (RRT), Code Blues, and Code Whites as assigned.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to intervene and advocate for patients as necessary.
- Intervenes in instances of abuse, assault, or neglect, or when adequate financial or social resources are unavailable, making appropriate referrals.
- Develops long and short-term goals consistent with treatment plans, standards of practice, and patient preferences, discussing the plan of care with the patient.
- Utilizes pain management resources and other interventions to provide pain relief.
- Performs ongoing assessments and documents the patient's physical and psychosocial condition, as well as response to care.
- Reviews patient test results, identifies critical results, and communicates them in a timely manner, correlating information into the plan of care.
- Ensures nursing practice is evidence-based, within scope of licensure, and compliant with hospital-wide standards, including core measures, infection control, and HIPAA.
- Collaborates with staff, physicians, and healthcare team members to ensure efficient emergency department throughput.
- Supervises, monitors, and delegates patient care activities to appropriate team members, providing leadership to ensure safe and high-quality care.
- Acts as a resource, providing information, guidance, and education about treatment plans, care plans, and medications.
- Develops and implements accurate teaching and ongoing discharge plans.
- Communicates empathetically with patients and their support systems, demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivity.
- Engages in caring behaviors, taking ownership of interactions with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
Requirements
- Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
- One year of previous emergency nursing experience or completion of an emergency department training course (including EMTALA and ESI 5-level triage within the first six months of employment).
- De-escalation certification upon hire; SAMA Certification required upon recertification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
- SAMA Certification upon hire.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).

Pay
Base Rate: $58.14 - $81.39 per hour (8-hour average).
Pay Rate: $67.83 - $94.96 per hour (12-hour rate, calculated by averaging 8 hours at base rate and 4 hours of overtime).
$25,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates with one or more years of acute care RN hospital experience. Bonus paid in increments over 24 months to active employees in good standing.
