RN Unit Manager/Infection Control

About the role

The Unit Manager/Infection Control - Registered Nurse (RN) oversees the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care healthcare facility. This position is eligible for a $6,000 sign-on bonus, payable in two installments.

Responsibilities

• Hires, disciplines, and evaluates employees
• Facilitates meetings and committees to address resident care issues
• Manages the unit to achieve and maintain high-quality care standards
• Develops, implements, and evaluates programs for nursing staff
• Contacts physicians and ensures timely and appropriate interventions
• Monitors staffing patterns and census to ensure adequate coverage and budgetary control
• Ensures appropriate and quality care is provided to residents
• Assists in the orientation and skill development of new personnel
• Participates in the facility's Quality Assurance program
• Performs other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, degree preferred
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Valid CPR teaching certificate, if applicable
• Three years of nursing experience, including one year in a long-term care setting

Qualifications

• Skilled in motivating staff and leading teams
• Skilled in assessing work and communicating effectively with residents and their families, as well as across the organization
• Knowledgeable about state and federal requirements for accreditation and certification
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work with a diverse resident and employee population
