About the role
Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assesses patients’ needs and develops individualized care plans.
- Administers medications and treatments according to physician orders and protocols.
- Monitors patients’ vital signs and reports changes to healthcare providers.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Participates in ongoing education and training related to specialty areas.
- Contributes to the development of staff through mentoring and coaching.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards and policies.
Requirements
- 18 months nursing experience required.
- BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required.
- Masters degree in nursing preferred.
- Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
- Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire.
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
