About the role
The Nurse Trainer oversees nursing services in residential programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities or brain disorders. They develop and deliver medication administration training to non-licensed staff, ensure compliance with state regulations, and provide healthcare oversight.
Responsibilities
- Conducting staff competency assessments
- Developing individualized care plans
- Monitoring residents' health
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Offering nursing consultation to staff and interdisciplinary teams
- Participating in quality assurance
- Staying current with regulations and best practices
Qualifications
- Licensed RN in the state
- Completion of the state-approved Nurse Trainer orientation (He-M 1201)
- Preferred 2+ years nursing experience, especially in developmental, behavioral health, or long-term care settings
- Strong communication, teaching, and mentoring skills
- Valid driver's license and transportation for site travel
Preferred Skills
- Experience in residential/community settings with individuals with disabilities
- Familiarity with relevant state regulations and systems
- CPR/First Aid Instructor certification (preferred)
Work Conditions
Frequent travel across sites, combination of office and on-site work, with potential on-call duties.
