RN Trainer

About the role

The 1201 Nurse Trainer oversees nursing services in residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities or brain disorders. This RN role involves training non-licensed staff in medication administration, health tasks, and emergency procedures, ensuring compliance with He-M 1201 regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the licensed nurse trainer for assigned residential sites.
• Train, certify, and assess staff in medication and health-related tasks.
• Develop individualized health plans aligned with physician orders and ISAs.
• Ensure safe medication administration, documentation, and policy adherence.
• Provide nursing consultation to staff, program managers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor residents’ health, coordinate care, and maintain accurate health records.
• Participate in quality assurance, audits, and incident investigations.
• Stay updated on relevant regulations and best practices.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state.
• Completion of Nurse Trainer orientation (He-M 1201).
• Preferred: 2+ years of nursing experience, especially in developmental or behavioral health.
• Strong communication, teaching, and mentoring skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Conditions

• Experience in residential or community settings with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
• Knowledge of state regulations and developmental services system (preferred).
• CPR/First Aid instructor certification is a plus.
• Frequent travel to program sites; combination of office and on-site work; on-call may be required.
