About the Role

This position is responsible for identifying, abstracting, and reporting all data requirements for a primary Stroke Center, Thrombectomy-capable, or Comprehensive Stroke Program. The RN - Stroke Data Specialist supports the requirements of the American Heart and Stroke Association/GWTG Stroke, works with all disciplines to ensure core measures are met through evidence-based practice, and monitors time-sensitive quality indicators to assure timely care of stroke patients. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, abstract, and report data for stroke program requirements.
  • Support compliance with American Heart and Stroke Association/GWTG Stroke guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure core measures are met through evidence-based practice.
  • Monitor time-sensitive quality indicators to ensure timely care of stroke patients.
  • Perform additional duties within the scope of the role as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active RN licensure required.
  • Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical background with relevant clinical experience.
  • Data management system experience required.
  • Experience in neuroscience nursing or a closely related field (e.g., rehab therapy, emergency care, critical care, or research coordination) preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
  • Strong team leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with a proven track record of successful performance.
  • Ability to understand complex, multifactor situations and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record work, safety, and infection control standards.
