About the role

Rapid Response & Assessment: You’ll carry the stroke phone, responding immediately to Code Stroke Alerts in the ER and in-house to perform assessments and expedite life-saving diagnostics and treatments. Clinical Coordination: Act as the primary coordinator across disciplines, ensuring labs, scans, and medications are administered with the urgency a stroke requires. Expert Mentorship: During "downtime," you’ll round on the floors to support bedside nurses. You’ll assist with complex charting, troubleshoot bedside issues, and serve as a real-time clinical resource for staff. Patient Advocacy & Education: You will guide patients and their families through the complexities of a stroke diagnosis, providing the education and clarity they need for a successful recovery. Continuity of Care: Collaborate with the Stroke Team to lead discharge planning, ensuring every patient has a seamless transition and a clear path forward after they leave our care.

Responsibilities

  • Expert Mentorship: Supporting bedside nurses during "downtime" by assisting with complex charting, troubleshooting bedside issues, and serving as a clinical resource.
  • Patient Advocacy & Education: Guiding patients and their families through the complexities of a stroke diagnosis, providing education and clarity for a successful recovery.
  • Continuity of Care: Collaborating with the Stroke Team to lead discharge planning and ensuring a seamless transition for patients.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Preferences

  • Clinical Foundation: At least 2 years of Registered Nurse ICU experience. Preference given to those with Neuro/Stroke Critical Care or Emergency Department backgrounds.
  • The Educator Mindset: Passion for staff development and patient education. Comfortable teaching at the bedside and helping bedside nurses level up their skills.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team to ensure no detail is missed.

Pay

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Days | Full-time | 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.
Additional preferences:
  • At least 2 years of Registered Nurse ICU experience.
  • A genuine passion for staff development and patient education.
  • The ability to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team to ensure no detail is missed.
