About the unit
This 25-bed inpatient oncology unit cares for a diverse and meaningful patient population, ranging from medical-surgical to step-down, with the ability to flex staffing based on patient acuity. Nurse-to-patient ratios adjust with acuity: Lower acuity: up to 5 patients Higher acuity / step-down: as few as 3 patients The unit is evolving into a mixed critical care environment, offering exposure to higher-level monitoring and complex oncology care—with strong clinical support. Patients may experience rapid changes in condition, and teamwork is essential to ensure early recognition and intervention. This is an ideal environment for new nurses who want strong foundations now—and expanded skills for the future.
