Department Details
Work closely with providers, nurses, technologists, and ancillary staff for planning of procedures and follow up appointments. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to: scheduling and coordinating procedures, scheduling clinic appointments, prior authorization, registration review, pre-procedure preparation with the patient, and assisting with patients in the clinical setting.
Job Summary
Serve as Sanford systems administrator for both in-house and outpatient scheduling which includes responsibility for the maintenance, security, teaching and analytical recovery offered by the scheduling system. The RN Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures, ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and documentation requirements. This role serves as a liaison between providers, clinics, clinical teams, and other team members to maintain an efficient and accurate scheduling process.
Key Duties
- Manage department calendars in the EMR system
- Verify documentation
- Procedure planning
- Cook up and coordinate resources such as staffing, equipment, and if in a procedural department, anesthesia
- Support operational workflows by attending departmental meetings, distributing procedural reports, and assisting with patient flow
- Collaborate across multiple departments
- Provide pre/post procedure instructions to patients and family
- Work closely with prior authorization resources to ensure procedures are authorized before scheduling
Qualifications
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
