POSITION SUMMARY

Oversee the overall function of the nursing shift ensuring a quality, respectful environment for the residents.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize, supervise and evaluate resident care including overseeing the function of the respective shift
• Review verbal information and written documentation from previous shifts
• Communicate resident updates with physicians, families, nursing team and other departments, as necessary
• Prioritize needs of residents
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths, as appropriate with the respective shift
• Assist with physician orders/reviews, nursing assessments and care planning
• Address staffing issues as they occur
• Address resident, family, staff, vendor concerns as they arise
• Assist with staff education/training, as needed or directed, and provide counseling and coaching as needed
• Maintain communication between staff and Director of Nursing and department heads by attending meetings, trainings, and through email, phone, or in person
• Participate in wound assessments and care
• Assist in regulatory based tasks (including resident matrix updates, audits, etc) as assigned.
