RN (Registered Nurse) Supervisor Full Time With Alternate Weekends

Responsibilities

• Verifies daily staffing and redistributes as necessary;
• Collaborates with all charge nurses daily to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition, and all matters affecting resident well-being;
• Makes rounds, morning and night, to assess residents' condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents;
• Ensures that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident;
• Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed;
• Participates in resident care committee meetings;
• Reinforces the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provides positive reinforcement;
• Answers any/all emergencies throughout the shift;
• Affixes to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors;
• Affixes to assure the building is secure during the evening and night hours by checking doors and alarms according to nursing facility protocols;
• Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness;
• Monitors meal service on the units and in the dining areas to identify issues requiring intervention and to assure resident meal satisfaction and nutritional adequacy;
• Affixes to develop and implement the nursing facility Quality Improvement Program;
• Affixes to ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights;
• Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

• The RN Nursing Supervisor must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and there must be current registration with the professional board of nurse examiners of the State;
• Experience in the nursing field;
• Supervisory experience in long-term care is required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices;
• Knowledge of specialized procedures applied and equipment used in the area to which assigned;
• Knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene;
• Knowledge of medications, their proper dosage, and expected results;
• Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment;
• Ability to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in an effective manner;
• Empathetic attitude toward residents and the ability to gain their confidence;
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature;
• Ability to recognize and identify symptoms and make quick decisions in emergencies;
• Ability to train subordinates in work procedures and organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff;
• Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public;
• Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
